By God’s grace, Catalina Lutheran Church is blessed to have a Life Team, whose leader and members have been certified by Lutherans for Life (https://www.lutheransforlife.org). Our team has adopted the following mission statement:
The Life Team at Catalina Lutheran Church exists to equip and encourage our congregation members to be merciful and truthful voices for the sanctity of life; sharing the Good News of Christ-crucified in and around our communities, offering beauty and hope through His forgiveness and love.
We meet on a regular basis, each time beginning with a study of God’s Word and our Lutheran Confessions, which clearly proclaim the sanctity of life from conception to God’s appointed time for death. We partner with other congregations for mutual equipping, and joint witness in the public square. Additionally, we have partnered with Family First Pregnancy Care Center and Family Diaper Bank, Oracle AZ, which serves our area through life-affirming outreach to mothers, youth and families, as well as diapers to babies, disabled and the elderly (more information on Family First may be found at FamilyFirst.
For those with medical needs, Family First refers to a life-affirming medical pregnancy care center in Tucson; a list of these may be found at Help4Her.
Catalina Lutheran Church is a member congregation of the English District of the Lutheran Church – Missouri Synod (LCMS). Our Synod is very active in life ministry and has provided many resources to assist in the proclamation of the sanctity of life, see https://lcmslife.org. Similarly, the English District maintains the sanctity of life Lifeline outreach, and has assembled a library of useful resources from Synod, Lutherans for Life, and others active in the life arena, see https://englishdistrict.org/lifeline. Finally, the LCMS Life Ministry maintains a volunteer portal, on which the English District has a page, to connect individuals with volunteer events in their communities that proclaim the sanctity of life. You may sign up at lcms-life.org; please “fan” the English District page to be kept updated.
