OB – October Meeting Minutes

Pastor opened the meeting with a prayer based on Luke 16:13.  It’s a parable that is difficult to discuss but can apply to Operation Barnabas and our goals.  Instead of condemning those who strive for money with shrewd and sinful ways, we need to be prudent servants of Christ and extend His love to them.

Veteran’s Day will be celebrated at Claire’s Cafe again on Nov.11 from 7:30 A.M.-12:00 noon.  Fifty food cards, $20 each, will be handed out to honor Veterans who wish to have breakfast or lunch.  There will be pickles, jam and baked goods for sale to raise funds.  Pastor and Vicar will hold a commemorative service to honor Veterans on the patio at 11:11 A.M.  If any members or friends can bring baked goods, that would be helpful.

“Wreaths Across America” will be held December 16 at the Arizona Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery at Marana.  Wreaths can be purchased for $17 each which then get placed on Veteran’s graves.  There will be a ceremony at 10:00 before the placing of the wreaths.  Dawn has extra order forms if anyone is interested in buying a wreath or two.  Kathy and Dawn will be in attendance.

There will be a Stand Down in 2024.  It will be held in the middle of March.  That means we will be collecting clothes, hygiene items, and buying Bibles for homeless and needy Veterans at CLC.

We are sending notes of encouragement to Brian, who is stationed in the Mediterranean area as a base commander.  He is Shirley’s nephew who we have included in our Chapter’s and Churches’ prayers.  He may be involved in some tense situations that exist in that area.

Pastor concluded the meeting with prayers for the families of fallen soldiers who died this past month.

Our next regular meeting will be January 18 at 1:00 P.M. at the Church.

P.S.  I received sad news from the Women Warriors organization.  They are disbanding the group and the president is no longer involved as well as the other officers.  We have supported and worked with them for the past 8 years.  They have done so much for women Veterans.

In His Service,
Dawn
