90 days of prayer: Day 3

Tuesday, Sept. 5, 2023 – Lord God, heavenly Father, You sacrificially loved us by sending Your only begotten Son to die for us on the Cross, thus giving us all that we could ever need. In so doing, You have freed us to truly and sacrificially love You in return, and to sacrificially love our neighbors as ourselves, thus following His example. We wholeheartedly thank you for gifting us with Your Word and Sacraments here at Catalina Lutheran Church, enabling us to be strengthened through them in faith toward You and in fervent love toward each other and our neighbors. We confess that, like the Jewish priests, Levites, and laypeople so long ago, we have not loved You with our whole heart, and we have not loved our neighbors as ourselves. We have not made good use of Your life-giving gifts to us, and we justly deserve Your present and eternal punishment. We beseech you to have mercy on us and forgive us. Create in us clean and contrite hearts, that we may remain ever thankful for Your gifts to us in this place, return true sacrifices of prayer, praise and thanksgiving to you, and likewise show sacrificial love and mercy toward our neighbors; through Jesus Christ Your Son our Lord, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one true God, now and forever. Amen.
