Monday, Sept. 4, 2023, Labor Day – Lord God, heavenly Father, You made a testament to Abraham that through his Seed, Your Son, our sins would be forgiven, we would be declared right with You, and inherit eternal life. You put Your testament into effect solely by His death and resurrection, and not by our merit. We most heartily thank you for your gifts to us, which are too great for our thoughts to fully comprehend and words to fully express. We confess that, like the canon lawyer, we poor miserable sinners frequently lapse into thinking that we can justify ourselves, earning this most precious inheritance through our works. We are deeply sorry and we humbly repent. We implore you to keep us ever mindful that we cannot free ourselves from our sinful condition and are wholly dependent on Your grace and mercy. Keep us ever thankful for all we receive from You here at Catalina Lutheran Church. Continue to open our lips that our mouths may declare Your praise, and to lead us to support Your work here in this place. All this we ask through Your Son, our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one true God, world without end. Amen.
