Old business
- The jam and pickle sale at CLC netted $409.50. There are still a few outstanding IOUs.
Dawn reported to the group that Tractor Supply in Catalina would allow her to set up a sale in front of their store. She may pursue this opportunity at a future date.
- Rancheros Market in Catalina will host our Veterans’ Day bake sale and Prayer Service (Monday, November 11). The bake sale will be from 7am – 11am, and the Prayer Service will be at 11am in the courtyard adjacent to Ace Hardware.
We will load tables and chairs into Mike’s truck on Sunday afternoon, November 10. We will meet at Rancheros Market on November 11, at 6:30am, to set up.
Dawn and Laura offered to place flyers in Oracle, Catalina, and Oro Valley at select locations. Christie will prepare flyers.
Marty offered to prepare vouchers for veterans to purchase food items in Rancheros Market on Veterans’ Day. The group approved 50 vouchers, at $20 per voucher.
Boyd will make announcements after DS on November 3 and November 10.
New business
- Dawn brought a condolence card for Bruce, whose mother died recently.
- Bruce wanted the group to know that he has been unable to contact Chaplain Bell, and he does not have a current address for him. Until we have an updated mailing address, we will not send correspondences to Chaplain Bell. We will keep Chaplain Bell in our prayers.
- Laura and Mike will be traveling to Parris Island for the graduation of Mike’s nephew from Marine Corps Boot Camp on December 6.
- Pastor reported that Pastor W. has resigned his call as a Chaplain with the National Guard. Pastor W. left in good standing, so he can re-enter at a future date.
- Pastor shared that his son is deploying to Africa on November 16. He will be on deployment for about 9 months. We will keep Jacob in our prayers.
- Boyd reported that the Stand-down is now scheduled for 5 March 2025, at the Ramada Inn on Cushing St. in Tucson. Like last year, there will be tents on the grounds which will be used for the event.
- Karina reported that Chaplain Nava and family were happy to receive a card from us. She recommended that we send a Thanksgiving and/or Christmas card to the Navas.
