Dear Members & Friends,
Pastor Palmer opened our meeting with a devotion that gives us hope that we will never be separated from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord, whether it be death, war, evil rulers, or anything else in all creation. If God is for us, who can be against us?
Those in attendance today were Kathy Allred, Bruce Helenbart, Larry Klages, Caloline & Brian Rolfe, Donna & Paul Lindberg, Pastor Palmer, and Dawn Hawk.
There was no news of any deployments in our area.
Everyone is invited to attend the “Wreaths Across America” Ceremony and the laying of wreaths at Evergreen Cemetery at Oracle and Miracle Mile on Dec. 17 (Saturday) at 9:00-12:00 A.M. These wreaths will honor the memory of all the Veterans laid to rest. The Gold Star Mothers who have lost sons or daughters in war will hold a memorial ceremony first and then the wreaths will be distributed to volunteers to lay on the graves.
Encouragement cards were written and sent to Adam Hughes of Colorado Springs who is struggling with PTSD. His Mother Lydia Hughes has been one of our supporters and asked for prayers for her son.
Our meeting had a positive interruption when Moose Creighton, who represents the Tucson Troop Support Group from SaddleBrooke, came with a load of food for our adopted family for Christmas. Yesterday he also brought toys for the children of this family and more food. We are very grateful for his donation.
Bruce, Kathy, Donna, Paul & Dawn wrapped 18 children’s gifts to be delivered to two Veteran’s families later this month. The Christmas paper was donated by Family Dollar store. Please be ready to volunteer to make this delivery.
Pastor Palmer closed the meeting with a prayer for four fallen soldiers and their families.
The next meeting will be held in the New Year, Jan. 10 at 10:00 at the Church. Main business will be packing care package bags for the next Stand Down on Saturday, Jan. 14at 9:00-2:00 at the Days Inn on Congress and I-10.
Merry Christmas & Happy New Year,
Dawn
